Shopify Plus stores that ran shipping discounts through Scripts need a Function-based replacement, because Scripts stopped running on June 30, 2026. Shopify’s native free shipping discount makes every eligible rate free, with no rate names, percentages or product conditions. RM: Advanced Free Shipping is built on Shopify Functions and covers those offers without code. It costs $9.90 USD every 30 days, with a 7-day free trial, billed by Shopify. Plus stores pay the same flat price as every other store.

What Plus stores use it for

  • Rate-specific offers. Free Standard while Express stays full price, or $10 off Express. Pick rates by exact name, or type a keyword for carrier rates whose names vary.
  • Percentage, amount off or a fixed price. 50% off shipping, $10 off, or shipping capped at $5.
  • Market and currency rules. A Shopify Market condition, plus fixed thresholds per currency for Cart total and Cart subtotal.
  • Customer rules. A Customer tag condition, or Shopify customer segments under Customers.
  • Product rules. Product in cart, Variant selector, Product collection, and item count or cost from a collection.
  • AND/OR logic. Conditions in a rule group must all pass. Any rule group passing triggers the discount.

There are 17 condition types in all. Each discount can be automatic or a code, scheduled with start and end dates, and limited to one-time purchases, subscriptions or both.

A worked example: one threshold per currency

The offer: free shipping over a set amount in each currency, with round numbers instead of converted ones. The store’s currency is AUD, with a $100 AUD threshold, fixed at USD 75 and GBP 60.

Under Conditions, add Cart total Is at least 100, then add fixed amounts for USD and GBP. Under Discount setup, choose Shipping, All shipping rates, Free.

At checkout:

  • UK customer, £64 cart: over £60, so Standard shows £4.95 Free. They pay £64.00.
  • US customer, $70 cart: under $75, so Standard costs $8.95. They pay $78.95.
  • US customer, $75 cart: at the threshold, so Standard is free. They pay $75.00.

How it runs

  • It runs as a Shopify Function at checkout, discounting the rates you already have: flat rates, Shopify’s carrier rates, or rates from your own carrier account or shipping app.
  • It adds nothing to your theme and no scripts to your storefront. The discounted rate shows its old price crossed out, with the discount title or code underneath.
  • The listing’s plan is built for high-traffic checkouts.
  • It works on every Shopify plan, so expansion stores and non-Plus brands in a group can run the same setup.

Moving a Scripts setup over

Map each Script to a discount. Free shipping over $X becomes a Cart total condition. A rate.name check becomes Choose specific rates with a wildcard match. if/elsif tiers become separate discounts, because Shopify gives the customer the shipping discount that saves the most. Hiding or renaming rates is a delivery customization, not a discount. Use a delivery customization app for that part.

Testing on a live Plus checkout

Turn on Test mode for each new discount. It only applies when the shipping first name is ABC123, so you can test on your real checkout without customers seeing it. Try carts just below and above each threshold, each Market, and each rule group. Then turn Test mode off.
